Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah Renders Consular Mobile Services for Filipinos in Khamis Mushayt
3 March 2019, Jeddah. A team from the Consulate General in Jeddah led by Consul General Edgar Badajos rendered consular mobile services for Filipinos in the southwestern city of Khamis Mushayt on 28 February - 2 March 2019. The city is home to approximately 17,000 Filipinos many of whom are working in the medical field.
The consular team processed 780 passport applications, 166 requests for notarial and authentication services, and 194 other services including certifications and passport validity extensions.
Representatives from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office, Office of the Social Welfare Attaché, Pag-IBIG Fund, and Social Security System also joined the consular mission to offer their respective services. As in the previous missions, Social Welfare Attaché Priscilla Razon interviewed Saudi employers and their Filipino household service workers (HSWs) to check whether the latter are receiving their rightful entitlements under Saudi labor laws.
The Consulate General conducts consular mobile services in Khamis Mushayt at least twice a year for the benefit of Filipinos in the area who have to take a 7 ½-hour land travel or an hour-and-a-half plane ride just to get to Jeddah for their consular needs.
The first consular mission in Khamis Mushayt was successfully conducted with the support and cooperation of members of the Filipino Community led by Mr. Virgilio Crisostomo. END
