The Philippine Consulate General would like to reiterate to the public that Filipino health workers who have been exposed to MERS-CoV patients should undergo testing and strictly follow infection control protocols in your work place.
As previously stated, a MERS-CoV clearance for OFWs returning to the Philippines is not required. Nevertheless, if you are planning to travel or go on vacation to the Philippines, you are enjoined to undergo testing voluntarily for your and your loved ones’ assurance and peace of mind. This will also help avoid possible delays upon arrival at airports in the Philippines where strict screening for MERS-CoV and other pandemics are now being enforced(END).
