Upon his arrival, Consul General Badajos immediately met with the male and female wards of the Consulate’s Bahay Kalinga.  Bahay Kalinga refers to sections of the Consulate’s premises that serve as temporary shelter for Overseas Filipinos (OF) in distress.  Consul General Badajos assured the male and female wards of Bahay Kalinga that the Philippine Government is determined more than ever to address the plight of distressed OFs.  He cited the expanded Assistance-to-Nationals Fund and the Legal Assistance Fund as proof of the Government’s seriousness in providing timely, effective, and efficient assistance to OFs in distress.

Consul General Badajos also met with the officers and staff, as well as the attached agencies, of the Philippine Consulate. He echoed the marching orders of the President and the Secretary of Foreign Affairs to ensure the delivery of timely, efficient and effective services to OFs at all times. “Our objective is to do good public service; Overseas Filipinos deserve no less,” Consul General Badajos said. At the same time, he commended the Consulate personnel for their commitment to their jobs and urged them to continue working as “one country team.”
