21 February 2017, Jeddah – The Asian Food Festival 2017 was held on 17 February 2017 as one of the activities to culminate the 10th Asian Film Festival. The event was held under the auspices of the Asian Consuls General Club (ACGC) in Jeddah, which consists of 13 Asian countries namely Bangladesh, Brunei, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand. 

 

The residence of the Consul General of Indonesia was overwhelmingly crowded with over 350 attendees that included diplomats, prominent Saudi personalities, media people and Asian expatriates, enjoying over a dozen food stalls offering genuine national cuisines and culinary delights from the participating Asian Consulates General.

 

In the Philippine food corner, the Consulate served the famous adobo, pancit palabok, pitchi-pitchi and putopao. The “Bahay Kubo” decorated with Philippine flags and colorful buntings added attraction to the Consulate’s guests.  

 

The annual film and food festival provides the Philippine Consulate an opportunity to showcase Philippine cinemas and cuisines while promoting its public and cultural diplomacy programs. END.
