NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL AWARDS
FOR FILIPINO INDIVIDUALS AND ORGANIZATIONS OVERSEAS
IS NOW OPEN
24 January 2016 - The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah informs the Filipino Community in the Western Region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) has formally announced the opening of the nomination for the 2016 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organization Overseas.
The awards are conferred by the President of the Philippines every two years on meritorious individuals and organizations overseas to give the highest recognition to their work in the service of the Filipino community or nation, and for exceptional achievements or excellence in the pursuit of their endeavors. The Presidential Awards has four categories – (1) Kaanib ng Bayan Award, (2) Lingkod sa Kapwa Pilipino Award, (3) Banaag Award, and (4) Pamana ng Pilipino Award.
In 2014, Jeddah’s very own SERENATA, a children’s choir and string chamber orchestra that supports the education of less fortunate students in the Philippines was the lone Lingkod sa Kapwa Pilipino (Linkapil) awardee. The award was conferred to the group for its exceptional or significant contribution to reconstruction, progress and development in the Philippines.
Deadline for submission of nominations through mail or online must be received by the CFO on or before 31 May 2016. The Awards Ceremonies will be held in December 2016 at the Malacañan Palace, Manila.
