PHILIPPINE CONSULATE CONDUCTED OUTREACH

OVERSEAS VOTERS REGISTRATION ACTIVITIES

 

(Jeddah, 10 September 2015) – As part of its efforts to ensure that the maximum number of OFWs in the Western Region may registered for the 2016 National Elections, the Philippine Consulate in Jeddah conducted three (3) mobile overseas voters (OV) registration activities for Filipino workers in the first week of this month.

The first mobile overseas voters registration was conducted on 03 September 2015 during the Association of Pinoy Expatriates’ (APEX) activity “SUMMER PINASaya: TARALETS SA JEDDAH 2015” (which aptly translates to: “LETS GO AND MAKE THE SUMMER FUN THE FILIPINO WAY 2015”). The Filipino workers who attended the event held at the Reem Riviera Beach Resort in North Obhur were also able to avail themselves of the Consulate’s SSS and Pag-Ibig outreach services.

On 04-05 September 2015, the Consulate, back to back with the Consular Mobile Services, conducted an OV registration at Tulip Inn Hotel in Taif for its Filipino community. Another OV registration activity was held at the Dr. Bakhsh Hospital in Jeddah for its Filipino health workers on 06 September 2015.

The Consulate was able to perform the said outreach OV registration activities with the cooperation of Filipino community organizations. A total of 268 applications for registration/certification, 33 applications for reactivation of registration records, 7 applications for transfer of registration records, one (1) recapture of biometrics and (one) 1 correction of registration record were facilitated during the said activities.
