This Iftar gathering reflects the Philippine Consulate’s ongoing efforts to strengthen engagement with the Filipino student community in the Western Region of Saudi Arabia and underscores the significance of education in fostering future leaders who will contribute to the growth and development in the Philippines.

In his remarks, Consul General Rommel A. Romato challenged the students to use their knowledge and learning experiences in the Kingdom to uplift the conditions of their communities and make positive changes in the Philippines and beyond. “Someday you will all be back home, and this is where the greater challenge of imparting and practicing what you learned will begin. You are the leaders of tomorrow, and we trust that when that time comes, you are all well-equipped with proper knowledge and are embodying values that will guide you to become responsible and constructive individuals and citizens of our country.”

He assured the students of the support of the Consulate not only in terms of their consular and other needs but also in searching for opportunities for them to use their knowledge, in line with the broader objective of strengthening academic cooperation between the Philippines and Saudi Arabia.

As of March 2025, there are reportedly more than 500 Filipino students pursuing higher education as scholars in the Western Region of Saudi Arabia. END
