Jeddah PCG holds bloodletting activity at the Consulate, in celebration of Volunteerism Month
JEDDAH, 21 May 2024 – The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah (Jeddah PCG), Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in celebration of the Volunteerism Month, organized an activity entitled, “Be A Hero! Donate Blood, Save Lives and Improve Your Health,” a bloodletting activity in partnership with Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital.
Prior to the start of the activity, Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Fatih Mehmet Gul, and Dr. Sahar Elwakil, Chairperson of the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Department paid a courtesy call on Consul General Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian. Dr. Gul commended the Consulate for the blood donation initiative, mentioning the collaboration with the Philippine Consulate is the first of its kind for the hospital.

The activity was conceptualized to instill the importance of bayanihan or community spirit among the Filipino and Saudi nationals in Jeddah. The bloodletting activity collected a total of 41 bags of blood from different volunteer donors comprising personnel of the Consulate and its attached agencies, as well as from the Filipino community.

DSFH also turned over donations intended for the male and female wards of the Bahay Kalinga, comprising medicines, vitamins, milk, and hygiene items. Mr. Roel B. Martin, Labor Attaché and Ms. Narabelle Bue, Social Welfare Attaché of MWO-Jeddah, were present at the event and received the items.
