JEDDAH PCG KICKS OFF ITS 18-DAY CAMPAIGN TO END VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN (VAW)

27 November 2023, Jeddah – The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah (Jeddah PCG), in support of the 18-Day Nationwide Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW), kicked off its celebration of the advocacy campaign on 27 November 2023, during a VAW-Free edition flag-raising program held at the Consulate grounds.

To highlight the campaign, the Consulate’s flag-raising program included the “Prayer for the 18-Day Campaign to End VAW”, a Muslim prayer with a special intent to collectively eradicate VAW, and the playing of the Lupang Hinirang (All Women Cast version). SSS Representative Mr. Michael Ingal also sang “Kumilos ka, Kalalakihan” to rally the support of male personnel in the fight against VAW.

“We need to be vigilant and proactive in promoting this advocacy, and make sure that no stone is left unturned in our efforts to promote and protect the welfare of all women, and ensure that they are safe from all kinds of violence that may come in different forms and sizes,” Consul General Auxilian said.

“There is still a need to educate every Filipino and the rest of the international community that violence against women is already a thing of the past, an act that should no longer be tolerated, and something that should be advocated against,” he added.
