Jeddah PCG Holds Philippine Community Night
Consul General Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian addresses members of the Filipino community in Jeddah.
Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, 16 June 2022 - Officers and leaders of the Philippine community in Jeddah and the Western Region of Saudi Arabia participated in the annual Araw ng Kalayaan: Filipino Community Night held on 16 June 2022 at the grounds of the Consulate General in Jeddah. Representatives of various business enterprises in Jeddah also attended the event.

In his message, Consul General Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian underscored the collective resilience and bayanihan spirit of the Filipino community in Jeddah and the Western Region, who have been steadfast partners of the Consulate in community building.
“The pandemic has shown that no matter how hard the situation is, we Filipinos are still willing to help each other and raise each other’s spirit to overcome the woes, the anxiety and the feeling of hopelessness and isolation during the most trying times… Tonight is our way of showing our deepest gratitude to all of you, cherished members of the Filipino community in Jeddah and the Western Region of Saudi Arabia. Tonight is also a reaffirmation of our partnership that has only grown stronger and more purposive over the years. Truly, with our collaboration and cooperation, we can overcome any hurdle, trial, and challenge that may come our way,” Consul General Auxilian said.

The program saw performances from various members and organizations from the Filipino community in Jeddah, including the Jeddah PCG Folk Dance Group, CSE Dance Ensemble, IPSJ Dance Troupe, Nunungan International Organization, delos Santos Family, and various Jeddah-based singers and performers. A quiz bee on Philippine history made the program even more exciting as prizes were given away to audience.

The Filipino Community Night is an event organized by the Consulate General to honor the contributions of the Filipino community in advancing Filipino culture and heritage in Jeddah. Theme of the activity is “Konsulado at Filcom sa Jeddah: Magkatuwang sa Pagsuong sa Anumang Hamon ng Panibagong Bukas.” Celebrations for this event resumed this year in light of the COVID-19 pandemic during 2020 and 2021.
