Jeddah PCG turns-over Coordinatorship of the Asian Consuls General Club to Singapore Consulate

Jeddah, 9 February 2022 -The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah officially handed over the Coordinatorship of the Asian Consuls General Club (ACGC) to the Consulate General of Singapore in Jeddah in a turn-over program held earlier today at the Philippine Consulate Conference Hall.

In his message to the ACGC members during the turn-over ceremony, Philippine Consul General Edgar Tomas Q. Auxilian thanked all the ACGC member countries for the support they have given during the coordinatorship of the Philippines of the club, which ran from 2019 to 2021. The strong cooperation of ACGC members led to the successful mounting of its major activities such as the Asian Food Festival and Asian Film Festival. Consul General Auxilian extended his well-wishes to incoming ACGC Coordinator, Singapore Consul General to Jeddah Mr. Chandra Kumar, and assured the Philippines’ support to Singapore as ACGC Coordinator for 2022.

Singapore Consul General Mr. Chandra Kumar also expressed appreciation for all the efforts of ACGC in organizing socio-cultural activities, and looked forward to lead the ACGC in its continuous conduct of activities that would promote the cultures of ACGC member countries and of Asia, in general.

During the Coordinatorship of the Philippines of the ACGC, the club was able to mount the Asian Film Festival, with the screenings of Indian, Malaysian, Filipino, Pakistani and Indonesian films.

On 2 March 2020, the Philippine Consulate held the screening of Filipino film “Sonata” at the Philippine Consulate grounds. It was also during the Philippine film screening that the Asian Food Festival was held.

The ACGC is composed of thirteen (13) Asian countries namely, Bangladesh, Brunei, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. –END—
