Saudi Arabia's New COVID-19 Travel Protocols

Jeddah, 06 February 2022 - The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Interior released its new COVID-19 travel protocols for Saudi citizens and the Kingdom's residents traveling in and out of the country. The new protocols are as follows:

  1. All travelers arriving in the Kingdom, including Saudi citizens, must produce a negative PCR result or negative antigen test obtained 48 hours before their departure, regardless of their immunization status;
  2. Saudi citizens wishing to travel outside the Kingdom must take the booster dose of the vaccine in case they have completed three months after receiving the second dose;
  3. Saudi citizens whose test results show that they were infected with the corona virus are allowed to enter the Kingdom without the need for a PCR test provided that seven days have passed since they tested positive and that they have received the vaccine doses approved by the Kingdom;
  4. Saudi citizens who tested positive for COVID-19 and have not been vaccinated will only be allowed to enter the Kingdom after 10 days of testing positive.
  5. Groups excluded as indicated in the Tawakkalna app are exempted from the requirement; and,
  6. Children below 8 years old are exempted in view of the regulations prevailing in their countries of origin.

The new travel protocols are to be enforced by the Kingdom's authorities on Wednesday, 09 February 2022.
