Filipino music and dances showcased
in Summerset Festival
06 September 2021, Jeddah – The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah (Jeddah PCG), in cooperation with Bora Café and Restaurant, showcased Filipino music and dances at the Summerset Festival held at on 3 September at Bora Café and Restaurant in Jeddah.

The Summerset Festival was divided into three parts: first, Reggaefest, a concert of Filipino songs which Filipino singers and musicians performed in the style of reggae; HipHop Dance Battle, a dance competition participated in by Jeddah-based Filipino dancers; and Glow Party, a dance and rave party with songs played by DJ Mhonzkie.

In her message, Jeddah PCG Acting Head Consul Mary Jennifer D. Dingal said that the Philippines has always been blessed with world-class talents, and that the Filipino music, dances and other performance arts have always been praised and recognized all around the world. “The Summerset Festival is a celebration of Filipino artistry, creativity, and showmanship, featuring our very own music and dances. Knowing how talented we are as a people should be our source of Filipino pride wherever we go,” Consul Dingal said.

The event saw performances from in-house singers of the Bora Café and Restaurant, saxophonist Mr. Lito Relativo, Jeddah PCG personnel, and the PCG Dance Ensemble, among others. Some members of the Filipino community in Jeddah also gave song and dance numbers at the event.

The Summerset Festival is still part of the Consulate’s post-celebration of Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino. -End-
