Jeddah, 25 August 2021 – The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomes the new Head of Office of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) in Jeddah, LABOR ATTACHE ROEL B. MARTIN.

Labor Attache Martin is a dynamic, pro-active, results-oriented leader who possesses a calm demeanor and also known for discipline, tireless work ethic and enthusiastic embrace of new challenges amidst the circumstances.

He was born on 8 May 8 in Angadanan, Isabela and is married to the former Ms. Armi Jeshlene Magat. They are blessed with two kids Raya Emmanuelle and Rohan Angelo.

He is a graduate of Bachelor of Arts, Major in Political Science at UST in 1996 and Bachelor of Laws at the Philippine Law School in 2006. He had specialized studies at the Labor Migration Academy in Turin, Italy conducted by ILO in 2015. He is also a registered Financial Planner by the RFP, Philippines in 2016. He has completed the Peer-to-Peer Learning of Migration Stakeholders conducted in Bogor Indonesia in 2019 and completed an E-Learning Course on Crisis Management and Assistance to Nationals conducted by the DFA in 2019.

His work experiences include the following:
• Civilian Intelligence Staff at the Office of the Chief of Staff for Intelligence 1997 to 1998;
• Senior Program Assistant at the Center for Professional Excellence – 1998 to 2002;
• Unit Head Verification and Authentication Unit – POEA Records Section;
• Unit Head PRC One-Stop-Shop – POEA – 2004;
• Labor and Employment Officer II as a technical staff of the Monitoring and Evaluation Division, DOLE Bureau of Labor Relations 2004 – 2007;
• Labor and Employment Officer II as a technical staff of the Monitoring and Evaluation Division, DOLE Bureau of Labor Relations 2004 – 2007;
• Senior Labor Employment Officer as a Hearing Officer at the DOLE Bureau of Labor Relations – 2007 – 2013;
• Supervising Labor and Employment Officer from 2013 to 2015 and promoted to Chief Labor and Employment Officer at the Worker’s Reintegration and Technical Services Division of the NRCO – OWWA from 2015 to 2017; and
• OIC Director of the NRCO – OWWA from 2017 to 2021.

With regard to his volunteer work / experiences, he is the founder and former President (2006 – 2016) who initiated the first – ever DOLE government employees union which facilitated the approval of collective negotiation agreement (CNA) featuring health and welfare benefits for the 2,500 DOLE employees. He is the President of the APO – DOLE Alumni Association.

He likewise acted as the COMELEC Chairperson of a Homeowners’ Association who initiated the election of officers through formal electoral process with the specific bylaws, rules and regulations adopted by the homeowners’ association.

Labor Attache Martin is pleased to be part of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah and commits to fully support the office in all programs, activities and projects for the welfare and protection of the rights of all OFW within its jurisdiction.
