The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah
celebrates Philippine Night
with the Filipino community in Jeddah

Jeddah, 24 August 2021 – The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia recently held Philippines Night on 20 August 2021, at the Equestrian Park in Asfan, Jeddah.

The event was made possible under the leadership of HRH Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, the Saudi National Events Center (NEC), together with the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) and the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), in cooperation with the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah and various Filipino organizations in the entertainment and business sector.

The Philippine Nights is also part of the Saudi Summer Program, which covers 11 other destinations across destinations and will last until the end of September this year. The Pakistani and Indian communities in Jeddah are also slated to hold their own programs in the coming weeks.

Before the event, major Saudi news outfits, Arab News and Saudi Gazette , announced the event. The official Twitter pages of the Saudi National Events Center (NEC), together with the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA) and the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), respectively, likewise came up with their own tweets.

The show featured world-class performances from DJ Mhonzkie, Rapper Kaizer, saxophonist Lito Relativo, the Serenata All-Male Chamber Chorale under Ms. Sylvia Delos Santos, and the BLZ Band. Local music talents managed by Centerstage Entertainment and Mr. Blue Initiatives and Productions sang Original Filipino Music to the delight of the crowd. Dance groups from the Filipino community under the tutelage of JMA Creative Entertainment as well as dancers from the Philippine schools wowed the audience with their heart-stopping performances. The Consulate’s very own PCG Dance Ensemble showed their moves with their Hataw Na number. Puppets and clowns provided comic relief with their unique performances.

There were also booths for games, henna tattoo, face painting, instant photos, and food to complete the event’s fiesta theme. SSS Jeddah and Pag-IBIG Fund Jeddah, along with some Jeddah-based Filipino companies, likewise had their own booths.

In her message, Acting Consul General Mary Jennifer Dingal said that the historic Philippines night, which is the first-ever concert-program initiated by the Saudi government for an expatriate community in the Kingdom, is a celebration of the close and friendly ties between the Philippines and Saudi Arabia, which spans 52 years. She also said that the event shows that Saudi Arabia not only recognizes the capabilities and talents of the Filipino, but also values their contributions to the country. She thanked The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques His Majesty King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman, whose Vision 2030 opened the doors of reform and transformation.
