In her message, Jeddah PCG Acting Head Consul Mary Jennifer D. Dingal said that the National Heritage Month celebration is not only a looking back of what or how things were in the past, but it is also an opportunity for us to appreciate, reintegrate, and rebuild the Filipino psyche that is aware, conscious and proud of its rich cultural heritage, unique identity, and our victory as an independent group of people!

“As we journey back and reminisce the “Tugtugang Bayan sa Lumang Tambayan,” may we also take pride in our music, our Filipino heritage, culture and values as reflected in our songs, and hopefully, be able to pass on to the future generation of Filipinos the Filipino experience and identity through our beautiful music,” Consul Dingal added.

The celebration of National Heritage Month started in 2003 by virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 439. This year, the celebration will be anchored on the theme “Victory and Humanity: Upholding Filipino Heritage and Identity” in solidarity with the commemorations of the 500th anniversary of the Victory at Mactan last April 27, as well as the 500th anniversary of the Philippines’ part in the first circumnavigation of the world. -End-
