2021 Foreign Service Officer (FSO) Examinations

(Jeddah,18 May 2021) – Dreaming of becoming a Diplomat? Take the chance. Take the Foreign Service Officer (FSO) Examinations.

The Department of Foreign Affairs announces the holding of the 2020 Foreign Service Officer (FSO) Examination to recruit candidates for appointment to the position of Foreign Service Officer, Class IV (FSO IV). FSO IV is the entry position for future Philippine diplomats. A Foreign Service Officer IV (FSO IV) serves as Principal Assistant/Assistant Director in the Department of Foreign Affairs - Home Office, as Third Secretary in Philippine Embassies/Missions, or as Vice Consul in Philippine Consulates.

The FSO Examination is open to any Filipino citizen with a four-year college degree or higher. There is no prescribed age limit in order to take the exam. Applicants for the examination must be knowledgeable in the economic, political, and social conditions of the Philippines, and must possess not only facility in oral or written communications but also the traits essential to the performance of the duties of a Foreign Service Officer. Furthermore, candidates who pass the examination must be willing and able to accept assignment to any post where their services may be required.

The examination is composed of five (5) parts namely: Qualifying Test; Preliminary Interview; Written Test; Psychological Test; and, Oral Test.

The Qualifying Test is scheduled on 22 August 2021 and will cover: Verbal Ability; Analytical Ability; Numerical Ability; and Managerial Ability at the designated testing centers all over the country.

Interested applicants based in Jeddah and the Western Region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia may submit their duly-accomplished application forms and documentary requirements in person at the Philippine  Consulate General abroad not later than 27 May 2021, or at the BFSE Secretariat, Second Floor, DFA Main Building, 2330 Roxas Blvd., Pasay City on or before 03 June 2021.
