JEDDAH PCG HOLDS “ONLINE TALAKAYAN” ON SSS, PAG-IBIG E-SERVICES AND FINANCIAL LITERACY FOR OFWS
12 May 2021, Jeddah – The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah (Jeddah PCG) on 11 May 2021 held an “Online Talakayan,” a virtual talk on the e-services of the Social Security System (SSS) and Pag-IBIG Fund, as well as on financial literacy which was discussed by representatives from Banco de Oro (BDO).
The Online Talakayan, which was moderated by Vice-Consul Alfred Kristoffer Guiang, included a talk by SSS-KSA Western Region (WKSA) Representative Mr. Michael Ingal on the features of SSS’s online facility My.SSS, where transactions such as loan application, payment and updating of contributions, etc. may be made, making transactions with SSS faster and more convenient than ever.
Mr. Jamal Baguan, Pag-IBIG Fund (Jeddah and WKSA) Information Officer also discussed the benefits of being a member of the Pag-IBIG Fund, especially for OFWs who want to make use of their earnings wisely and productively.
A financial literacy talk was also given by BDO Representatives Mr. Jonathan Celis, Marketing Officer for BDO Unibank- Jeddah, and Mr. Leo Bravo, Regional Sales Head of the BDO Network Bank- MSME NCR. They also discussed loan programs that Filipino business owners may avail of to expand or further improve their businesses.
Consul and Acting Head of Post Mary Jennifer D. Dingal said the Online Talakayan is an opportunity to update OFWs in Jeddah and the Western Region of KSA on the new programs and innovations introduced by the Consulate’s partner agencies SSS and Pag-IBIG, to make it easier for Filipinos to avail of their services without physically going to their offices, especially in this time of pandemic. “The Online Talakayan is also a way to help OFWs to know how to make use of their hard-earned savings by educating them on how to invest wisely, which will provide more security for their family and their future,” Consul Dingal added. -END-
