THE PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL IN JEDDAH CELEBRATES HOLY MONTH OF RAMADAN WITH AN ARABIAN NIGHT-THEMED IFTAR PROGRAM
18 April 2021, Jeddah – In celebration of the Holy Month of Ramadan, the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah on 15 April 2021 held a Ramadan Iftar Program, which was participated in by Jeddah PCG personnel.

With activity theme “Arabian Nights”, the activity included a Muhadharah (lecture) on fasting as one of the Five Pillars of Islam, as well as the health benefits associated with fasting by Consulate’s translator and interpreter Ustad Montaser T. Pasandalan.
This was followed by a reading of a verse of the Qu’ran by Ustadz Damra Saumay, and the Breaking of Fast by Ustadz Badroddin Abdullah, both Arabic translators and interpreters of the Consulate.

Acting Head of Post Consul Mary Jennifer D. Dingal said that the activity is a way of showing oneness with the Muslim community in celebrating an occasion with so much religious significance. “Ramadan is a time for internal spiritual and physical cleansing for our Muslim brothers and sister, and while we are a mix of Muslims and non-Muslims at the Consulate, it is but proper for us to show our support to this important occasion by conducting activities such as Iftar Dinner and adjusting our work schedule to synchronize it with the Saudi government’s work schedule, in the spirit of Ramadan,” Consul Dingal added.
The activity was capped by an Iftar dinner partaken by all Consulate personnel. -END-
