Investment Opportunities in ASEAN Discussed in Webinar

 

Jeddah, 18 August 2020 – Investment opportunities in ASEAN in the time of COVID19 were discussed in a webinar held on 18 August 2020, from 9:30 a.m. onwards. The webinar was jointly organized by the Philippine Board of Investments – Department of Trade and Industry and the respective government investment arms of Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand, in cooperation with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC) in the Middle East and Africa based in Dubai headed by Commercial Attache Charmaine Mignon Yalong.

Prospective Saudi investors from Jeddah and the Western Region participated in the webinar upon the invitation of the Philippine Consulate and PTIC. Consul General Edgar Badajos, Consul and Economic Officer Mary Jennifer Dingal, and Trade Assistant Bugshan Tenderaganao also joined the webinar.

The webinar panelists included: Mr. Iwan Ungsi, Director of the Indonesia \investment Promotion Center, Abu Dhabi; Mr. Abd Mukti Abu Bakar, Director of the Malaysia Investment Development Authority, Dubai; Ms. Sonklin Ploymee, Executive Director of the Thailand Board of Investment, Bangkok; and Ms. Angelica Cayas, Governor of the Philippine Board of Investments, Makati.

The speakers discussed updates on pre-COVID ASEAN economies; investment climate, regime, and incentives of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines; and government support for foreign investors.
