Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah Renders Special Weekend Service for Clients from Najran
Jeddah, 15 August 2020 - The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, K.S.A. rendered special consular services to almost 100 Filipinos from the province of Najran yesterday, 14 August 2020. Najran, a southwestern province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is home to around 7,311 Filipinos and is located more than 950 kilometers outside of Jeddah.
Due to budgetary constraints currently experienced by the national government as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Consulate General had to suspend all future Consular Mobile Services (CMS) to the provinces outside of Jeddah. This prevented the Consulate from bringing much needed consular services to Filipinos in areas like Najran.
In response to this situation, the Consulate General decided to open for weekend services for Filipino communities outside of Jeddah upon prior arrangement. The Filipino community in Najran was the first to avail itself of this weekend consular service.
Other Filipino communities outside of Jeddah are encouraged to likewise organize themselves and coordinate with the Consular section if they wish to request a similar weekend service.
