Jeddah PCG partners with telecom company to reach out to more Overseas Filipinos in KSA’s Western Region

Jeddah, 9 March 2020 – In its effort to reach out to more Overseas Filipinos (OFs) under its jurisdiction and to keep them updated on important developments in the Philippines and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah (Jeddah PCG) has welcomed the initiative of Virgin Mobile to assist in helping to disseminate information and public advisories of the Consulate to Overseas Filipinos through SMS blasts.

Under the initiative, Virgin Mobile will distribute free sim cards to overseas Filipinos visiting the Consulate at the public waiting area. Overseas Filipinos can use the said sim card to make emergency calls or send urgent messages to the Consulate even if they run out of load. The initiative will be especially useful to OFs in distress who need to send urgent text messages or call the Consulate but do not have loads anymore to make the call or send an SMS. Virgin Mobile also volunteered to text blast important announcements of the Consulate to Filipino Virgin Mobile sim card holders, at no charge to the Consulate.

The initiative is an outreach program by Virgin Mobile, which aims to empower Filipinos in the Kingdom by giving them easy access to information, said Mr. Zoriel Gaffud, Marketing Specialist. ---END—
