PCG starts month-long celebration of National Women’s Month with back to back activities

(Jeddah, 2 March 2020) – The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia kicked off its month-long celebration of National Women’s Month with back-to-back events.

During the Flag-Raising Ceremony on 1 March1 2020, Vice Consul Sheila Mae A. Briones, GAD Focal Point Officer, read the message of Dr. Rhodora M. Bucoy, Chairperson of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), which emphasizes the uniqueness and strength of women in its theme, “Babae, pambihira ka!”

On the same day, the Consulate inaugurated its very own Child-Minding Room and Toy Library for mothers and their babies/children and the children of wards of Bahay Kalinga. The facility is a collaborative project of the Consulate, the Office of the Social Welfare Attache under Social Welfare Attache Annabel R. Oidem and the Jeddah-based teachers’ organization Philippine International Schools Teachers Association (PISTA) headed by its President Cristina Dela Cruz.

On 2 March 2020, Consulate personnel led by Consul Mary Jennifer D. Dingal, GAD Focal Point Officer, dependents and female wards of Bahay Kalinga held a wellness and fitness class with Fitness Instructor Mauricia Garcia and her assistant, Ricky Boy Cunanan. Participants also performed, “One Billion Rising” Dance.
