Filipino Community in Jeddah pledges to end Violence Against Women (VAW)

(Jeddah, 26 December 2019) - On 05 December 2019, the Filipino Community in Jeddah pledged to end Violence Against Women and signed an Anti-VAW Commitment Form as part of the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women which coincided with the 2nd State of Post Address held at the Philippine Consulate General grounds.

Members of the Filipino Community in Jeddah formed a sea of orange as they pledged to end violence against women.

Led by Consul Mary Jennifer D. Dingal, the Consulate’s Gender and Development Focal Officer, the pledging ceremony emphasized the importance of working together to protect and promote the rights of women.

The Women and Children Help Desk (WCHD) was also launched in the same event in support of the Consulate's Gender and Development or GAD program. The WCHD is tasked to help ensure a gender-fair and violence-free Filipino community in Jeddah and the Western Region of Saudi Arabia where women and their children are empowered and free from any and all forms of violence.
