Jeddah PCG commends Filcom group for promoting Filipino tourism and local festivals at Tourism Philippines pageant

Jeddah, 16 December 2019 – The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah (Jeddah PCG) commended the Filipino Artiste Migrante Ensemble (FAME) for incorporating Philippine festivals during the “Ginoo at Binibining Turismo Filipinas KSA,” held on 6 December 2019 at the Consulate grounds.

During the opening part of the activity, Consulate representative Vice-Consul Sheila Mae Alinsangan-Briones said that highlighting popular Filipino festivals in the pageant is a way of promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines, while at the same time showcasing the Filipino resourcefulness and creativity as reflected in the couture worn by the contestants. “All contestants and their fashion designers in this activity have become ambassadors of tourism and Philippine culture, with their impressive renditions of Philippine festivals in their festival wear,” Vice-Consul Briones said.

Young Filipinos aged 16- 29, who showcased local festivals such as the Masskara Festival, Bangus Festival, Flores de Mayo, and Dinagyang Festival, among others, in their costumes, joined the pageant. Among the members of the board of judges of the event were Vice-Consul Alfred Kristoffer A. Guiang and Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2008 winner Ms. Jennifer Barrientos.–END-
