Filipino Muslim youth in Jeddah completes Basic Islamic Studies and Values Education program
Jeddah, 19 November 2019 – Some 100 Filipino Muslim youth received their certificates of completion of the Basic Islamic Studies and Islamic Tarbiyah (Values Education) at a closing ceremony on 15 November, Jeddah. The course was conducted by the Youth Club Assembly (YCA), a pioneering Overseas Filipino Muslim youth organization established in 2013 founded by Ustad Alikhamlon Otara Cabugatan, a Filipino youth himself.
Vice-Consul Alfred Kristoffer Guiang represented the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah at the closing ceremony. In his brief message, he encouraged the youth to be responsible Filipinos in Saudi Arabia and contribute to nation-building by giving their best in everything they do: at home, in school, or in the community. “Excellence, guided by good values and discipline, is key to becoming productive Filipino citizens,” Vice-Consul Guiang added.
The aim of YCA is to educate Filipino Muslim youth on the basic teachings in Islam and reintroduce to students the good values necessary to live a meaningful life despite being far away from the Philippines. –END—
