COA conducts regular audit of Jeddah PCG and other foreign service posts worldwide

Jeddah, 3 November 2019 –In line with the Philippine government’s continuing commitment to promote accountability and integrity among government officials that will lead to public trust, officials from the Commission on Audit (COA) will conduct its bi-annual audit of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, among other Philippine foreign service posts, on 3 – 15 November 2019.

The COA Audit Teams are composed of Atty. Daryl Tonolete, Engr. Lloyd Malatamban, Atty. Eleno Malesido, and Mr. Manuel Garcia. They will be auditing the Philippine Consulate, including attached agencies Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Department of Social Welfare Administration (DSWD), Department of Trade and Industry, Social Security System (SSS), and Pag-IBIG.

The COA Audit Teams will audit the cash and property accountabilities of the accountable officers of the Consulate and attached agencies, budget utilization, and performance audit on selected areas of operations like the overseas voting and assistance to nationals, among others, for the period of 2017-2019.

Consul General Edgar B. Badajos said that the regular audit is an important check and balance on the utilization of public funds. “The COA audit fosters accountability and integrity among public servants,” Consul General Badajos added. -END-
