Jeddah PCG Library receives books from oldest PH international school
Jeddah, 31 October 2019 – The recently launched Library of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah (Jeddah PCG) received yesterday more than 250 books from the International Philippine School in Jeddah (IPSJ), the oldest Philippine international school in the world.
The donated books is part of the on-going project of IPSJ’s Student Council, which encourages all the students to give a book or two to the Jeddah PCG Library, in its commitment to support the Consulate’s advocacy to promote love for reading among the Filipino youth and all Filipinos in the Kingdom.
IPSJ’s Student Council made the donation in response to Jeddah PCG’s book campaign called “Bitbit Kong Libro Para sa Konsulado” or the “PROJECT BIBO AKO”, where members of the Filipino Community are encouraged to bring a book for the library every time they go on vacation to the Philippines or elsewhere.
The names of those who donate a book will be included in a “Book of Fame”, where the names of donors as well as the respective book/s they donated will be published and posted on the social media account and website of the Consulate.
Consul General Edgar B. Badajos said that the Jeddah PCG Library can be a nursery for young minds in the Kingdom where the Filipino youth’s intellect can be enhanced with the rich reading materials available. “It is high time to reintroduce to the Filipino youth the love for reading to stimulate their imagination and intelligence,” he added.
Aside from being a wide repository of reading materials, the Jeddah PCG Library will
also serve as a venue for academic activities such as fora, lectures, seminars, and conferences. ---END---
