The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah Launches
“A Fusion of Cultures”
27 October 2019, Jeddah KSA - The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah launched its week-long celebration of the 50 years of Philippine-Saudi Arabia diplomatic relations with the opening gala of A Fusion of Cultures, a photography exhibit mounted in collaboration with the Kulay Philippine Photographers Community.
“A Fusion of Cultures not only celebrates our vibrant diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia. It also celebrates our intercultural identity as a people and as a nation.” shared Consul Mary Jennifer D. Dingal during the opening gala.
The exhibit intends to showcase the richness of what is uniquely Filipino while also showing the world that in many aspects, Philippine and Saudi cultures are the same. "Over the years, our people have learned to embrace Saudi culture, while the Saudis have learned to love Filipino culture." adds Consul Dingal.
The exhibit features photographs taken by the members of Kulay - an elite group of highly acclaimed, world-class professional photographers who have been featured in renowned magazines. The group, which is also celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, has created an avenue for Filipino photographers in Jeddah to come together to learn photography techniques and further hone their skills and craft.
The exhibit will run until 31 October 2019 at the Philippine Consulate General Community Hall and the exhibit may be viewed from 10:00am to 12:00nn and 2:00pm to 4:30pm. Everyone is invited to visit and view the exhibit.
