Jeddah-based OFWs finish FILCOM vocational and technical programs, urged to be entrepreneurs
Jeddah, 23 October 2019 –Some 160 Filipinos in Jeddah on 18 October completed their vocational and technical training programs. The graduates, most of whom hold regular jobs, finished various short courses in computer literacy, aircon and refrigeration, hairdressing, CCTV essentials, bread and pastry, solar renewal energy, and massage therapy and reflexology, among others. The trainings were given by the Filipino Computer Literacy Program (FILCOM), a community-based organization that helps OFWs in acquiring additional technical skills through various training programs that may help them have better career opportunities in the Kingdom.
Vice-Consul Alfred Kristoffer Guiang represented the Consulate during the activity and commended the graduates for using their time to acquire additional vocational skills. He likewise urged them to be innovative, enterprising and entrepreneurial, and save capital and use it to set up their own businesses back in the Philippines. –END—
