Jeddah PCG meets with Filipino community leaders

from the Asir Region

 

(Jeddah, 29 September 2019) – On 27 September 2019, Consul General Edgar B. Badajos met with the Filipino community leaders from the Asir Region which has the largest Filipino community outside Jeddah.

The following Filipino community organizations attended the meeting through their respective leaders: Romer B. Poseo of Supreme Guardians Legioner International Inc. (SGLII) and Association of Chief of Police of the Philippines Inc. (ACPPI), Helito P. Navales of Guardians International Action Force for Peace (GIAFP), Albuen Buenafe of Guardians Brotherhood Incorporated (GBI), Roderick D. De Castro of Khamis Basketball League (KBL), Edwin Senas of United OFW of Aseer Region (UOFWAR), and Engr. Jose Ortie Q. Ella of Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineer (IIEE) Southern Region Chapter. Also present during the meeting were Mr. Virgilio Crisostomo and Ms. Debbi Jane Pangan, Filipino Community Coordinators of Asir Region.

During the meeting, Consul General Badajos thanked the Filipino community leaders for their unwavering support and assistance for the programs and activities of the Consulate. He encouraged them to closely coordinate with the Consulate especially on matters that concerning the safety and security of the Filipino community in the region.

Asir Region is located in the southwest of Saudi Arabia. Abha is its capital. It is around 629.9 kms. from Jeddah (approximately 7 hours and 33 minutes by land, and 1 hour and 15 minutes by plane).

In the Asir Region, the highest concentration of Filipinos could be found in Abha/Khamis Mushayt with an estimated combined population of 15,000 to 17,000. Majority of the workers are in the medical field (nurses).
