PH Consulate General in Jeddah Renders Consular Mobile Services for Filipinos in Najran

 

Jeddah, 6 September 2019. As part of its mandate to deliver consular services to all Filipinos under its jurisdiction, the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah sent a mobile team to the southwestern city of Najran on 5-6 September to provide passport, notarials, and other consular services to Filipinos in the area. Najran is near the border of Saudi Arabia with Yemen in the south. The are an estimated 5,000 Filipinos in the area out of whom the majority are working as medical personnel in several local hospitals and dispensaries.

Representatives from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), Pag-IBIG and Social Security System joined the mobile consular mission to offer their respective services. A separate team from the Consulate’s Assistance-to-Nationals Section replied to queries and requests for assistance from concerned OFWs. The Social Welfare Attaché, who was also part of the CMS Team, provided counseling to several OFWs in distress, and also interviewed Saudi employers with their Filipino household service workers who came to the venue for various consular services.

Consul General Edgar Badajos, who led the CMS team in Najran, thanked the Filipino volunteers led by Ms. Fayes Mailao and Ms. Nemie Marcos for helping organize the CMS. To all the applicants who showed up for the 2-day CMS, he conveyed the Philippine Government’s gratitude for their contributions to nation-building.
