JEDDAH PCG SUPPORTS BUWAN NG WIKA CELEBRATION OF THE FILIPINO COMMUNITY
(Jeddah, 27 August 2019) – The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah recently threw its full support to the Filipino community’s celebration of Buwan ng Wika 2019. Dubbed ‘‘Agosto Ko ‘To’’, the day-long celebration was spearheaded by the OFW Cooperative Council (OFWCC), Brotherhood Family and other Filipino community organizations in Jeddah.

Agosto Ko ‘To is a three-in-one celebration which featured Fiestasaya sa Umaga, Pagdririwang ng Buwan ng Wika and Gabi ng Madlang OFW.
Fiestasaya sa Umaga featured a cooking contest participated in by Filipino chefs in Jeddah, an arnis and karate exhibition, traditional games and contests like Hugot Makata and Digmaan ng Diwa.
Pagdririwang ng Buwan ng Wika showcased, among others, the talents of the students from the Philippine-curriculum schools in Jeddah, namely: International Philippine School in Jeddah, Al Dura International School, Durat Al Sharq International School and Bader International School. Pinoy rap artists enthusiasts also impressed the audience with their rap-commentaries focusing on the bittersweet realities of life as an OFW in Saudi Arabia.
Gabi ng Madlang OFW was highlighted by Damit Pinoy, a fashion extravaganza that highlighted the talent of Filipino fashion designers in Jeddah. Jeddah PCG personnel led by Consul Mary Jennifer Dingal gamely participated in the fashion show.
