PHILIPPINE CONSULATE GENERAL IN JEDDAH HOSTS HAJJ NIGHT FOR FILIPINO MUSLIM PILGRIMS
(Jeddah,15 August 2019) – The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah and its attached agencies, together with the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh, hosted a Hajj Night on 15 August 2019 for Filipino-Muslim pilgrims who successfully performed this year’s Hajj.

Consul General Edgar B. Badajos in his welcome remarks, congratulated the pilgrims and wished them a safe return to the Philippines. He likewise congratulated Secretary Saidamen B. Pangarungan and his team from the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) for successfully handling the participation of Filipino pilgrims in this year’s Hajj, which he described as a “colossal logistics and management challenge.” To cap the event, Secretary Pangarungan delivered a brief message in which he highlighted the reforms adopted by his office to make the Hajj fees more affordable and provide comfortable accommodations to the 7,142 Muslim Filipino Hajj pilgrims, out of 2.8 million Muslims from around the world.

Around 150 guests composed of Hajj pilgrims, distinguished religious Filipino Muslims, members of the Filipino community in Jeddah, and personnel from the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh and the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah and its attached agencies attended this year’s Hajj Night.
