The Department granted the prestigious award to PCG Jeddah in recognition of the Consulate’s establishment in August 2018 of a Contact Center for Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) concerns. Since its establishment last year, the Contact Center was able to process over 15,000 transactions, varying from consular, labor and Assistance-to-Nationals (ATN) concerns. PCG Jeddah was also recognized for being 2018’s top Philippine foreign service post in terms of the most number of medical assistance provided to OFWs.
Consul General Edgar B. Badajos personally received the award from DFA Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, on behalf of PCG Jeddah. He was joined by Finance Officer and Attache Clarissa E. Villamor and Attache and ATN Case Officer Mary Ann A. Hipe.
In his statement after receiving the award, Consul General Badajos said that he was immensely honored to receive the award. He thanked the DFA and fellow workers in government for believing in Consulate. He also stated that “this rare accolade is the product of the collective work and sacrifices of your public servants at Jeddah PCG, considered as one of the most difficult Philippine foreign service posts in the world due to the nature and sheer volume of issues and concerns involving OFWs. It was also inspired by both the encouraging and disparaging words we receive from the Filipino community under our jurisdiction.” (End)
