Consulate General in Jeddah Renders Consular Mobile Services and Field Overseas Voting for Filipinos in Abha City and Neighboring Areas
Jeddah, 5 May 2019. As part of its mandate to deliver consular services to Filipinos under its jurisdiction, a team from the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah rendered Consular Mobile Services (CMS) for Filipinos in Abha City and neighboring areas in the Aseer region of Saudi Arabia on May 1-4. A separate team from the Consulate, acting as a Special Board of Election of Inspectors (SBEI), also travelled to the city to give registered Filipino voters there the opportunity to cast their votes in the ongoing 2019 national mid-term elections.
Altogether, the consular team processed a total of 455 passport applications, 102 notarials and authentication services, and 117 other consular services. On the other hand, a total of 274 registered voters were able to cast their votes during the 3-day field voting operation.
Representatives from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), Pag-IBIG and Social Security System also joined the consular mission to offer their respective services. A separate team from the Consulate’s Assistance-to-Nationals Section replied to queries and requests for assistance from concerned OFWs.
Consul General Edgar Badajos, who led the CMS team, supervised the CMS and field overseas voting to ensure that everything went as planned.
The joint consular mission and field overseas voting operation ended on a successful note with the support and cooperation of members of the Filipino community in Abha led by Mr. Virgilio Crisostomo of King Khalid University in Abha. END
